After graduating from the Athens School of Fine Arts, Alekos Fassianos moved to Paris, France, in 1960, to study lithography at the Paris National School of Arts. His art has been exhibited in museums and galleries including in Athens and Paris (notably at the Paris Museum of Modern Art, Maeght Foundation, San Paul de Vence, and the Center for Contemporary Art), as well as in Tokyo, New York, São Paulo, and Melbourne. Alekos Fassianos is very popular in Greece. Some of his works are exhibited in public places including two large murals entitled The Myth of My Neighborhood, which can be seen at the Metaxourgeio metro station in Athens, Greece. On December 13, 2007, a painting of his titled The Messenger sold for EUR 550,701 at Bonhams in London, UK.
